Gena's Surgery

The beginning of January I found a bump on the top of my foot. Soon after it started to grow and cause more and more pain. When I went to the Doctor about it I was shocked when he said I would need surgery. He said we could drain the fluid, but 9 out of 10 times the fluid just fills back up again because the sack is still there. Surgery would be a long term fix.

It's been quite a juggle because whenever my right foot hurt bad enough for me to limp. I was leaning on my left leg which would make my misaligned patella flame up.
It was a weird feeling going in for a surgery voluntarily. I've never had anything like this. It was actually a real battle deciding whether to proceed with the surgery. Even after scheduling it I was going back and forth. With prayerful consideration of all my options I struggled with getting an answer. Finally I got my confirmation the day before surgery!

Breanna was right there to comfort me. She wouldn't stop giving me hugs & Kisses.

I wanted to watch the surgery(Jon always says I should have been a nurse). The doc said no way so I asked him to at least take a picture of it for me cause they had to put me under. He reluctantly said yes. I put a couple of pictures on here, but decided maybe not everyone wants to see weird things like I do-so I took them off. The incision was longer than I'd hoped almost 4 inches long.

Breezie is getting lots of play time in with Daddy. She's not the only one getting piggy back rides. We found thats the best way to help me get from room to room. He is also making yummy home made soups and keeping the house clean. What a sweetie!

I have to keep my foot elevated and iced for two weeks. It is quite an eye opener to see what I take for granted. I am so grateful for my many blessings and for the body Heavenly father made for me. For the many little miracles I experience everyday from Jon's love to Breanna's smile and the laughter we share.

I decided since I was going to be laying around for the next few weeks I better do something productive. So the day before surgery I cleaned out our storage room. What I thought would be about a two hour project turned into 5. I took everything out put up a shelving unit, did some seriously needed de-junking and put the rest back in again. We are working on converting all of our cardboard boxes into plastic bins. Leave it to me to do some ambitious project before a serious medical procedure.
