Easter!

You gotta love the Easter Gloves.

In church the Bishop got up and said "I'm surprised I don't see any bonnets" (Breeze had taken hers off for a seconed.) I quickly put it on as fast as Jon scooped her up and held her up. She just smiled. He said " At least somebody did, I encourage more bonnets next year." It was funny- and a proud Mommy moment.

Right before bed on Saturday night JOn asked Breeze what she wanted the Easter Bunny to bring her. We expected her to say chocolate, she surprised us and said "A Show" Thankfully the Easter Bunny came through. She got a My Little Pony Cartoon which is becoming her favorite since she is so into Horses. Or as she would call them- "Poni-corn."As you can see, it wasn't the warmest Easter we've had.

Love Traditions & the magic crayon!

Here is a cute hair-do just for fun.

Called to Serve

Recovery from Surgery has been an interesting experience. Everyone has been serving me catering to my every need. Water, ice, pillows, meals, art supplies, lap top, the list goes on. Not to mention watching tootsie. My parents needed to go back to Utah for work. I could have stayed home in Denver with help from the Relief Society. To me- it sounded like surviving or getting pampered, so I went to Utah with them. Plus, I was able to go to Treygan's Baptism talk about perfect timing. Jon was also working in Utah for a few days Yay! Then he took off to Arizona. I was pretty jealous when he went to the Easter Pageant in Mesa, I think I was more excited than he was!

Not being able to do things for myself has been weird, but how can I complain when I got a long break from diaper duty! It's actually been kinda nice to feel such a dramatic slow down. I am always go go go trying to catch up with my own mind and all I want to accomplish. Then suddenly I am just staring out a window, pondering many thoughts that perhaps wouldn't have had a glance before. Funny that it takes a surgery in order to get me to slow down. Kind of an eye opener hu? One thing is for sure, this experience has made me so grateful for my health. Just the ability to walk run jump & dance is such a treasure. How wonderful to know I will be doing just that in practically no time. I am thankful to be so very blessed!

My doctor was funny when I went in for my 1 week check up I asked if I should get some crutches. He said I was making "too big a deal of this!" I'm like hey if less swelling = less pain & faster healing then I'm all for it. So as soon as Renee & Alan offered to lend me their crutches I was all over it!
When I went in to get my stitches out and told him it was hurting more than usual. . . he said "It's cause your limping on it, you can walk on it more than that." I guess I'm just a big baby. That's okay I still figure it's going to be better for my foot in the long run.
I think all this time I should have been telling people I'm going into foot modeling just to see how they respond.

ANYWAY, I'm going on and on about me when my poor hubby has been in crippling pain. He has had this knot in his back we can't seem to get rid of. It might be a pinched nerve. It's been bothering him for several weeks now, but it just keeps getting worse and worse. So he finally went to the Doctor and got some muscle relaxers and pain meds. We're putting warm pads on it. To top that all off, Breanna has a cold now. So we're all quite a sight over here. Trying to take care of each other, but as you can imagine it is not so easy in our currant state.
The house is a total mess, but it's just gonna have to stay that way for a while. Sometimes you just have to let it go.

Gena's Surgery

The beginning of January I found a bump on the top of my foot. Soon after it started to grow and cause more and more pain. When I went to the Doctor about it I was shocked when he said I would need surgery. He said we could drain the fluid, but 9 out of 10 times the fluid just fills back up again because the sack is still there. Surgery would be a long term fix.

It's been quite a juggle because whenever my right foot hurt bad enough for me to limp. I was leaning on my left leg which would make my misaligned patella flame up.
It was a weird feeling going in for a surgery voluntarily. I've never had anything like this. It was actually a real battle deciding whether to proceed with the surgery. Even after scheduling it I was going back and forth. With prayerful consideration of all my options I struggled with getting an answer. Finally I got my confirmation the day before surgery!

Breanna was right there to comfort me. She wouldn't stop giving me hugs & Kisses.

I wanted to watch the surgery(Jon always says I should have been a nurse). The doc said no way so I asked him to at least take a picture of it for me cause they had to put me under. He reluctantly said yes. I put a couple of pictures on here, but decided maybe not everyone wants to see weird things like I do-so I took them off. The incision was longer than I'd hoped almost 4 inches long.

Breezie is getting lots of play time in with Daddy. She's not the only one getting piggy back rides. We found thats the best way to help me get from room to room. He is also making yummy home made soups and keeping the house clean. What a sweetie!

I have to keep my foot elevated and iced for two weeks. It is quite an eye opener to see what I take for granted. I am so grateful for my many blessings and for the body Heavenly father made for me. For the many little miracles I experience everyday from Jon's love to Breanna's smile and the laughter we share.

I decided since I was going to be laying around for the next few weeks I better do something productive. So the day before surgery I cleaned out our storage room. What I thought would be about a two hour project turned into 5. I took everything out put up a shelving unit, did some seriously needed de-junking and put the rest back in again. We are working on converting all of our cardboard boxes into plastic bins. Leave it to me to do some ambitious project before a serious medical procedure.
